Question: How are teams selected?
Answer: Teams are selected by the board members of the Mike Laga Youth Baseball Association, invited evaluators and coaches, if they have been named.

Q: How many boys will be selected for the teams?
A: We expect to take at least thirteen players for each team.

Q: Who are the coaches?
A: The coaches of the Mickey Mantle A team will be Bob Bak, David Hoose, and John Lenkowski. The coaches of the Mickey Mantle B team will be Lance Lashway and two assistants to be named later. Tim Molaghan will coach the Sandy Koufax team, along with two coaches to be named later.

Q: Are there costs associated with playing on the Sandy Koufax and Mickey Mantle teams?
A: There is a registration fee of $100.00. This will cover all costs. You will not have to buy pants or any other part of uniforms as in other leagues. You will receive a very high quality uniform consisting of pants, a vest, a T shirt, socks, a belt and a flex-fit cap. At the end of the season, players must return the vest, pants and belt. Players keep the socks, cap and T shirt. No one will be kept off the team because of inability to pay the registration fee. Scholarships will be provided.

Q: When does the season begin?
A: We do not have a schedule yet, but the Sandy Koufax season typically begins in the last week of May and the Mickey Mantle Season begins around June 1, or as soon as the high school season is over.

Q: How long do the seasons run?
A: Both seasons run through most of July. There is a regular season followed by playoffs and/or a tournament for the better teams in the leagues.

Q: Who is in our league?
A: The teams for this season are not finalized yet. The NEYSA teams change from year to year. Last season the Sandy Koufax team played against teams from Agawam, Longmeadow, Springfield,Suffield,Wilbraham,and other communities . The Mickey Mantle Tri-County teams typically plays teams from South Hadley, Greenfield, Holyoke, Mohawk, Easthampton, Amherst and other communities.
